Andres Jaaksoo (1945–2021) was an Estonian translator, publisher, children's literature scholar, and polyglot. He studied philology and was actively involved in children's literature, working for various publishing houses. He founded a student magazine in school and contributed to significant research projects under UNESCO regarding themes in children's literature. Jaaksoo also served on the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and was a jury member for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, notable as the first Estonian to hold this position.
