Andrew Hook is an Emeritus Professor of English Literature at the University of Glasgow. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 1954, he served in the national service and pursued postgraduate studies at the universities of Manchester and Princeton, earning his PhD from Princeton in 1960. His academic career spanned roughly a decade at the University of Edinburgh, a decade at the University of Aberdeen, and nearly two decades at the University of Glasgow. Post-retirement, he has been a visiting fellow at Princeton and taught at Dartmouth College, Worcester College, and the University of St. Thomas.
