Andrew J. Olmsted (1970-2008) was a U.S. Army major who served in Iraq, assigned to a military transition team. He was born in Bangor, Maine and raised in Massachusetts. Olmsted was killed in action in January 2008, becoming one of the first U.S. Army casualties in Iraq that year. He was recognized for his writing, including a blog for the Rocky Mountain News. His team suffered significant casualties during their operations in Iraq, and he remains remembered for his contributions and sacrifice in service.
