Andrew Rubin is an American computer programmer and entrepreneur, born in 1963. He founded Android Inc. in 2003, which was later acquired by Google in 2005. Rubin served as Vice President at Google for nine years, leading the development of the Android operating system for mobile devices. He left Google in 2014 amid allegations of sexual misconduct, although it was initially presented as a voluntary departure. Afterward, he co-founded Playground Global from 2015 to 2019 and helped establish Essential Products in 2015, a mobile startup that shut down in 2020.
