Andrew Vicari was a Welsh painter born on April 20, 1938, in Port Talbot. The son of an Italian restaurant owner, he showed artistic talent early, winning a national painting medal at 12. He studied at the Slade in London and later became an official artist for the Saudi royal family, producing numerous portraits and significant works, including a series on the Gulf War. Despite his wealth and success abroad, he remained relatively unknown in Wales. Vicari passed away on October 3, 2016, leaving behind a legacy in several museums in Saudi Arabia.
