Andy Simpkins (April 29, 1932 – June 2, 1999) was an American jazz double bassist known for co-founding the group The Three Sounds in 1956. Originally named The Four Sounds, the group became a trio after a saxophonist left. Simpkins played with The Three Sounds until 1968, followed by a six-year collaboration with George Shearing. Throughout his career, he also worked with various notable musicians including Lalo Schifrin, Zoot Sims, Sarah Vaughan, and Kenny Burrell. He passed away from stomach cancer at the age of 67.
