Aner Elyakim Shapira was an Israeli who became known for his heroic actions during the 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel. On March 12, 2001, he was killed during the Re'im music festival massacre. While taking cover in a shelter, he courageously threw back 7 explosive grenades at Hamas militants, saving at least 7 lives. His bravery earned him the title of 'hero' from both Israeli and international media.
