Anita Carter (March 31, 1933 – July 29, 1999) was an American singer and the youngest daughter of Ezra and Maybelle Carter. She experimented with various music styles and played double bass alongside her siblings Helen and June Carter in the Carter Family group. The trio joined the Grand Ole Opry radio program in 1950, where Anita, at 17, opened for Elvis Presley and later joined Johnny Cash's show in 1971. She recorded as a solo artist and with family for several record labels, including RCA Victor and Columbia.
