Anita Jacobson-Widding was a Swedish cultural anthropologist and a professor of ethnography at Uppsala University from 1976. Born Tarelius in 1934 in Lidingö, she specialized in African cultures, conducting field studies in Congo (1973–1974) and Zimbabwe (1984–1985 and 1991–1992). Her research focused on African folk models, cosmologies, and symbol systems. She contributed significantly to the strengthening of anthropology and African studies at Uppsala University. Jacobson-Widding was married to diplomat Christer Jacobson from 1956 to 1969 and to author Lars Widding from 1975 to 1987.
