She earned a bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay at the 1970 European Aquatics Championships and competed in four events at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Zarnowiecki gained recognition at the 1973 Maccabiah Games in Israel, where she won an impressive seven gold medals, including in the 100 m backstroke and 400 m freestyle, breaking records previously held by Mark Spitz.
