Ann-Gerd Steinby is a Finnish journalist and author, born on March 8, 1941, in Helsinki. She worked for the newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet from 1971 to 1980 in Helsinki, later moving to Åland where she was chief editor of Ålandstidningen. Steinby has published over 20 works, primarily non-fiction, including books about local history and notable authors. She also authored historical novels. She lived in Anni Blomqvist's writer's residence for 18 years and has three sons, one of whom passed away in 2008.
