Initially elected as a Conservative, she left the party in 2019 to join The Independent Group. Soubry held several government positions, including Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health and Minister of State for Defence Veterans, and she participated in Cabinet meetings. She lost her seat in the 2019 general election.
