Annadanaiah Puranik was an Indian writer, cultural activist, and freedom fighter born on March 8, 1928, and passed away on October 20, 2015. He significantly contributed to Kannada literature and was recognized as Sahityaratna. Puranik played a vital role in the Quit India Movement and was active in the Hyderabad Karnataka movement. He served as an Advocate in Karnataka for five decades, was the founder general secretary of All India Basava Samithi, and held various important positions in Kannada Sahitya Parishat and government committees.
