Her first book, 'Gebed van 'n Groen Perske en Ander Verse', was published by Tafelberg Uitgewers when she was just 16 years old. She became the youngest published poet in the history of South African literature, a record previously held by Zindzi Mandela and Antjie Krog, whose first books were published at the ages of 18 and 17 respectively.
