Annie van Gansewinkel is a Limburgian writer and poet, born on February 16, 1954, in Wieërt. After secondary education, she studied French and Dutch in Tilburg and taught at a vocational school for seven years. She later attended the Academy for Journalism in Tilburg, working as a journalist until 1997, when she became a full-time writer, penning thrillers under the pseudonym Anne Winkels. Since 1998, she has taught creative writing courses and written stories and poems in both Dutch and Wieërts.
