Annise Parker is an American politician who served as the 61st mayor of Houston, Texas, from 2010 to 2016. She was a city council member from 1998 to 2003 and later served as city controller from 2004 to 2010. Parker made history as one of the first openly gay mayors of a major American city. In 2015, she became the last mayor to serve a two-year term after a voter-approved measure extended city officials' terms to four years. Parker and her partner Kathy Hubbard have been together since 1990 and married in 2014.
