Anthony Stephen Cheke is a British biologist, ecologist, and ornithologist. He studied in Oxford during the 1960s and conducted research as a fauna and flora ecologist in countries like Thailand, Japan, Corsica, Ethiopia, and the Ivory Coast. His studies on the endangered bird life of the Mascarene Islands led to a book published between 1973 and 1975. In the mid-1990s, he revisited the topic, culminating in a joint book with Julian Pender Hume. He operated a bookstore, Dodo Books, in Oxford from 1982 to 2011, focusing on the extinct dodo.
