Anthony Ray Gubbay, born on April 26, 1932, is a prominent legal figure who served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe from 1990 until 2001. He held several judicial positions, including Supreme Court judge from 1983 to 1990 and High Court judge from 1977 to 1983. In addition to his judicial career, he was an advocate in private practice starting in 1974. His contributions to law were recognized when he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Essex in 1994.
