He has been serving as the president and CEO of the New York Public Library since July 2011, after succeeding Paul LeClerc. Previously, Marx was the president of Amherst College. At the New York Public Library, he has emphasized the expansion of education programs, increased public access to e-books, and improved services for researchers, along with efforts to provide library materials to public schools.
