Antón Avilés de Taramancos was a Galician writer born on April 6, 1935, in Noia, Galicia, whose real name was Xosé Antón Avilés Vinagre. He published his first poem at 15 and moved to La Corunya for nautical studies. Influenced by friends, he published several works and emigrated to Colombia in 1961, where he worked until 1980. After returning to Noia, he ran a tavern and organized cultural events. He served as president of the Association of Writers in Galician Language and was elected councilor for culture before passing away on March 23, 1992, due to cancer.
