Antón Cortizas Amado is a Galician children's literature writer and teacher, born in Ferrol in 1954. He is also known for his research on traditional games and for creating traditional toys. Cortizas engages in shadow puppetry and origami. He has received several awards for his contributions to children's literature, including the Merlín Prize in 2001 and the O barco de vapor Prize three times in 1988, 1991, and 1995.
