Anton Fojtík, born on July 18, 1938, in Bánovce nad Bebravou, is a prominent Czech chemist and scientist recognized as the father of nanotechnology in the Czech Republic. He published his first paper on nanostructures in 1983 and researched nanostructures in the USA during the late 1970s. Throughout the 1980s, Fojtík worked at various research institutions, including Hahn-Meitner Institute and Argon National Laboratory. From the late 1990s until 2011, he led research on nanoparticles at Czech Technical University and is involved in nanoscience, nanotechnology, and student education since 2012.
