Anton Matičič was a Slovenian officer in the Royal Yugoslav Army and the Slovene Home Guard. He held the rank of lieutenant and was decorated with the Order of Saint Sava prior to World War II. During the war, he joined the known Styrian Battalion of the Home Guard. After the war, he did not attempt to retreat to Austria but instead hid successfully in Dolenjska until he illegally emigrated to Italy and then moved to Argentina, where he spent his later years in a shelter run by Bishop Rožman in San Justo.
