Anton Mavretič was a prominent Slovene electrical engineer who moved to the United States in 1957. He received his education at the University of Denver and Syracuse University, later earning a PhD from Pennsylvania State University in ionospheric research. Mavretič played a significant role in developing color television at Westinghouse and worked on NASA’s Voyager programs at MIT. He became a professor and research associate at Boston University's Center for Space Physics and founded a consulting firm, SIAT of Boston LLC. He was honored as a corresponding member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2007.
