Anton Popov is a Bulgarian geographer and professor in the Department of Cartography and Geographic Information Systems at Sofia University. Born in 1956 in Stara Zagora, he graduated in geography in 1979 and earned his doctorate at Moscow State University. His interests lie in physical geography, environmental protection, landscape ecology, agroecology, and GIS. He has participated in numerous international projects, including regional development initiatives funded by the World Bank and educational collaborations with universities in the United States and Germany.
