He entered the Salesian order in 1921 and was ordained a priest in 1931. Resen served in various locations including Trento and Este, and upon the establishment of the Salesian parish of St. John Bosco in Trieste in 1943, he became a confessor and actively engaged with Slovenian Catholics, promoting Slovenian liturgy and cultural activities.
