He later became the abbot of the Monastery of Savina, a cleric in Athens, and eventually an archimandrite and mitroponosyn bishop in Canada. In 1993, he led a movement to revitalize the Montenegrin Orthodox Church, which led to tensions with the Serbian Orthodox Church. He passed away in November 1996 and was buried in Cetinje.
