Rosihan Anwar, born on May 10, 1922, in Kubong nan Duo, West Sumatra, was a prominent journalist known for his fearless and serious approach to his work. He began his career as a reporter for Asia Raya in 1943 and became the first editor of the daily Merdeka. Rosihan co-founded the magazines Mingguan Siasat and Pedoman, serving as their editor. In 1961, the government revoked the permit for Pedoman, leading him to work at Indomarine before the magazine resumed publication in 1968, though it ceased again six years later.
