Anzu Furukawa was a Japanese Butoh dancer and performance artist born on February 28, 1952, in Tokyo. She began her career as a choreographer, performer, and dancer in 1973 and was associated with the Butoh company Dairakudakan among other groups in Japan and Europe. Her work in the avant-garde dance scene significantly contributed to the recognition of Butoh as an important artistic movement. She passed away on October 23, 2001, in Berlin.
