Apaven Vasily Rrostomyan was born on February 15, 1905, in Bolnisi-Khachin, Russian Empire, and died on January 18, 1945, in Żarki, Silesia, Poland. He was a Soviet hero, posthumously awarded for his bravery on January 18, 1945, during the liberation of Żarki in Poland. A member of the Communist Party since 1931, he fought from the onset of the Great Patriotic War. He served in the Ukrainian 3rd and later the 1st Fronts, actively participating in the liberation of Poland. He died heroically by shielding his comrades from enemy fire.
