Archana Sharma was an Indian plant scientist, cytogeneticist, cytobiologist, and toxicologist born on February 16, 1932. She specialized in studying the classification of asexually reproducing plants, the division of adult somatic cells, and the chromosomal classification of various plant types including flowering plants. Notably, she researched the effects of arsenic in water. In recognition of her contributions to plant science, she was awarded the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1975. The Government of India honored her with the Padma Bhushan in 1984.
