He was the Muslim MLA for Bhopal Uttar in Madhya Pradesh and served in various capacities including as a Cabinet Minister for Minority Affairs, Backward Classes, Bhopal Gas Relief, and Small Enterprises. Notably, he was the only Muslim minister in Madhya Pradesh to hold such a position after a gap of 15 years.
