Arif Mehdiyev was a prominent Azerbaijani scientist, recognized for his contributions to the fields of physics and mathematics. Born on December 19, 1934, in Baku, he served as the chairman of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of Azerbaijan from 2002 to 2016. He was an academician and a full member of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. Mehdiyev earned the title of Honored Scientist and was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan. His membership expanded to the International Academy of Engineering in 1992 and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1996.
