Lakshman Arjuna Mahendran is a Sri Lankan-born Singaporean economist and banker. He served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka from January 2015 until June 2016. Prior to this role, he was the Managing Director at HSBC Private Bank and the Chief Investment Officer at Emirates NBD. He has also held leadership positions as chairman and Director-General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. Currently, he resides in Singapore, where extradition requests from Sri Lanka have been denied.
