Arkaitz Goikoetxea Basabe, born on May 4, 1980, is a prominent figure in the Basque separatist organization ETA. His involvement in violence began at age 15 with the street groups known as kale borroka. He joined ETA in 2005 after several arrests between 2001 and 2002. He was a leader of a highly active cell post-2006 ceasefire, participating in attacks in Biscay. Arrested in July 2008 during the dismantling of his cell, he has been imprisoned since.
