Armand Zildjian (1921-2002) was an influential American cymbal manufacturer and the leader of the Avedis Zildjian Company. Born in Milton, Massachusetts, he was the first Zildjian born in the U.S. and inherited a family tradition of cymbal-making that began in 1623. After serving in World War II, he revolutionized the cymbal industry by making them thinner for drum sets. He received numerous accolades, including an honorary degree from Berklee and induction into the Percussive Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2002 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
