Armenak Mnjoyan was an Armenian chemist, born on November 23, 1904, in Sarıkamış, Kars Province, Russian Empire. He earned his Doctorate in Chemical Sciences in 1944 and became a professor in 1966. Mnjoyan was elected as an academician of the Armenian SSR Academy of Sciences in 1953, having been a corresponding member since 1950. He was recognized as a Honored Scientist of the Armenian SSR in 1961 and was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor in 1969. He is known as the founder of the synthesis of physiologically active substances in Armenia.
