Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel, born on May 31, 1925, in Cortland, New York, served as the Commander and Conductor of the United States Air Force Band, the United States Air Force Symphony Orchestra, and the Singing Sergeants from 1964 to 1985. He was honored as the first Conductor Emeritus of the United States Air Force Band in 1990. Gabriel is also associated with the 29th DIV Band of the Virginia Army National Guard and has a large family including four sons, one daughter, and thirteen grandchildren.
