He was a member of the cultural group in the 1950s and lived in Portugal from 1959 to 1960, influenced by prominent figures such as Amílcar Cabral. He contributed to various publications and published his first poetry collection, 'Fuga', in 1965. His fiction debut came with the short story collection 'Quinaxixe'. His major work, 'Tempo de Munhungo', was awarded the Mota Veiga Prize in 1968. He also held significant positions in literary institutions after Angola's independence.
