Arnold Spilka (1917-2002) was an American children's illustrator, writer, and poet known for his whimsical works. Born in New York City, he studied at the Art Students League under notable artists. Spilka illustrated numerous children's books and wrote several, including 'A Rumbudgin of Nonsense' and 'A Lion I Can Do Without.' His poetry often features playful elements and observations about nature and city life. Some of his original drawings and papers have been preserved at the University of Minnesota's Children's Literature Research Collections.
