Arrigo Finzi was an Italian physicist, later naturalized as Israeli, born in Milan on April 2, 1917, and passed away in Haifa on February 10, 2012. In 1963, he proposed a modification to Newton's theory of gravitation on large scales. Based on observations of the motion of globular clusters around our galaxy, he calculated a mass approximately three times greater than that measured from the galaxy's central rotation curve, leading him to introduce modifications to the Newtonian theory.
