Arseni Pacheco Ransanz was a Catalan medievalist philologist and text editor, born on February 8, 1932, in Barcelona and passed away on June 17, 2011, in Vancouver. He studied Romance Philology at the University of Barcelona, earning his degree in 1954 and his doctorate in 1958. He specialized in Catalan narrative genres of the 14th and 15th centuries and also worked on Spanish Golden Age literature. He taught in Germany, Scotland, and at the University of British Columbia until his retirement in 1997.
