Art Landy was an American animator, born Arthur Charles Landmesser on May 18, 1904, in Newark, New Jersey. He made significant contributions to animation set decoration on over 150 animated features. His career began at Disney in the late 1940s, where he worked on Pluto films and the 1953 film Peter Pan. In 1953, he moved to the Walter Lantz Studio, where he remained until 1966, creating many Woody Woodpecker shorts. Landy passed away on May 21, 1977, in Van Nuys, California.
