Artavazd Peleshyan is an Armenian film director and theorist born on February 22, 1938, in Gyumri. Renowned filmmaker Sergei Parajanov referred to Peleshyan as one of the few geniuses in cinema. Most of his films are short, ranging from 6 to about 60 minutes, and are characterized by the absence of dialogue. However, music and sound effects play a significant role in his works, with most of his films shot in black and white.
