Arthur Catherall (1906–1980) was an English author known for his extensive works for children. Born in Bolton, England, he served in the RAF during WWII in Burma and East Bengal. An avid sailor, he also explored various regions including Europe, Africa, and the Far East. He wrote under multiple pseudonyms such as A. R. Channel and Dan Corby and produced a range of materials, including short stories and novels. By 1973, his books had sold over one million copies through his publishers J.M. Dent and Sons.
