Arthur DeBoer (July 2, 1917 - July 31, 2007) was an influential American cardiologist and cardiac surgeon. He specialized in cardiac surgery at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, where he was a pioneer. Known for performing the first open-heart surgery at Wesley Memorial Hospital in 1958, he served as the first chief of cardiothoracic surgery there. DeBoer was active in researching congenital heart defects and held the position of Chair in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery until 1975. He dedicated his career to advancing cardiac surgical practices.
