Arthur Hambleton was a CBE, MC, QPM awarded police officer who served in Dorset Police and is best known for leading Operation Countryman, a major investigation into police corruption. Born in Leeds on October 29, 1915, he worked in a butcher's shop before joining the West Riding Police in 1937. After serving in the Royal Marines during WWII, where he was awarded the Military Cross, he rose to become Chief Constable of Dorset Police by 1971, receiving high honors for his service. He passed away on October 10, 2012.
