Nikoghossyan studied at Yerevan State University's physics faculty from 1959 to 1964 and later completed his PhD at Leningrad State University. His research focuses on the physics of gaseous nebulae and astrophysical phenomena. He has held various positions at the Byurakan Observatory, is an active member of international astronomical societies, and has contributed significantly to the field through publications and editorial roles.
