Artie Mitchell, born Artie Jay Mitchell, was a pioneer in American adult films alongside his brother Jim Mitchell. They owned the Mitchell Brothers Film Group in San Francisco and co-directed the notable film Behind the Green Door in 1972, which catapulted actress Marilyn Chambers to fame. The brothers' collaboration ended tragically when Artie was shot and killed by Jim in 1991. Their lives and careers inspired the TV film Rated X in 2000, with Charlie Sheen portraying Artie and Emilio Estevez playing Jim.
