Arturo Araya Peeters was a Chilean naval officer born on January 30, 1926. He served as an aide to President Salvador Allende. Tragically, he was assassinated on July 27, 1973, by militants from the far-right paramilitary group Patria y Libertad, in collaboration with members of the ultra-right Comando Rolando Matus, linked to the National Party. His death occurred during a tumultuous period in Chile's history marked by political violence and repression.
